Fund-A-Pitty Week One: Philly

Date: Fri, 11 Jan 2013 08:26:17 -0800

I was wondering if you could help us with something. Yesterday we observed a dog on the corner of 108th and Central, he looked like he was malnourished because he was just lying on the sidewalk. We went and purchased him food. When we approached him with the food he did not move so my partner started to hand feed him, when he attempted to eat he could not move that well. When we looked closer we noticed that he had scratches across his torso so we assumed that he got hit by a car. We carried him in our car and rushed him over to the emergency room and that is where he is at now. He has a broken front left leg and two fractured ribs. Unfortunately we cannot afford the price that they quoted us and we have paid $1,000.00 of our own money to keep him comfortable overnight, and we really wanted to save him. Please if you could help us with anything it is greatly appreciated. You could contact either myself or my partner at any time.
Thank You,
Officer Jennifer Cohen

I seriously have tears rolling down my face because "Philly" is going to get the help that he needs.  The vet that he is currently at is called: Advanced Veterinary Care Center their address is 15926 Hawthorne Blvd. in Lawndale.  Their number is (310) 542-8018 and the two people who we have speaking to is Jennifer and Maria.  The type of break that he has is called a Distal Comminuted Metathystalseal Fracture and it is on his front left leg.  I cant begin to tell you how awesome this dog is!  Even with all of the pain that we could only imagine that he was feeling he still managed to wag his tail on the way to the Emergency vet when I was talking to him.  How cool is he!

  2. just wanting to tell u he is stinking cute and adorable. and plus I can tell you that their really friendly and very playful to, also the people that say its illegal do they think their vicious and cruel, mean and just thinking that their going to attack, so if you can just re comment back that would be really great and just to let you know she is a real beauty. also if they do think their vicious, their really not and if it is a law. then I am going to cry and pray for u, and hope they will change their minds and let u keep your pitbull. so like I said I will pray for you and like I also said he really is a beautiful and looks like a very playful and loving dog, so I really will pray for you and hope the people who created that law will change and create a new law so that you can keep your dog.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I wonder if someone can help me. I have been fostering a pitbull for 4 months without any financial help. A rescue was supposed to back when I initially fostered, but they fell through. So I have spent $2k of my own money and can no longer pay anymore. The issue Lila has is mange. The reason she still has it is because it took a few months for the Vet to diagnose it so, we were basically spinning our wheels for a while. Anyhow, on Sunday, 3/16/14, Lila escaped from my backyard and was picked up by the city. She is currently at the Long Beach SPCA. I cannot afford to get her out or continue her treatment. The SPCA told me they would euthanize her in 10 days if I surrendered her. I am looking for someone who may be able to foster her or at least help with the vet
